Tung Vai Forest Conservation Project

This project will commence in May 2016 and continue over a 18 month period. We will cover the entire Tung Vai Forest to learn all about the second largest Tonkin snub-nosed monkey that we can. The findings from this research will help understand population status and the core areas of it's range that will be included in a new Species and Habitat Conservation Area.

Current Project

This project will work towards forming a safe haven for the second largest population of Tonkin Snub-Nosed Monkeys. During this 18 month project I will visit the field site 3 times for (total of 9 months). The objective of this project is to count how many individuals we have left and to find which areas of their habitat would be best included in a protection area. I will be supported by a local Vietnamese guide and translator. The outcome of this research will tell us the areas that should be included in the newly proposed Species Protected Area from the Vietnamese government.
